Bodies of 2 girls found hanging in a village of Kanpur, rape suspected
The bodies of two girls were found hanging from a tree in a village of Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh after they were allegedly raped, the police said on Thursday.
The father of one of the girls alleged that three men — contractor Ram Roop and Sanju and Rajju, who lived at the brick kiln — raped the girls after forcing them to consume liquor.
The three accused have been arrested after the relatives of the two girls filed a complaint with the police.
A local spotted the bodies of the two girls – aged 16 and 14 – hanging by their dupattas from the same tree at a brick kiln in the village and informed the police.
The father of one of the girls alleged that three men — contractor Ram Roop and Sanju and Rajju, who lived at the brick kiln — raped the girls after forcing them to consume liquor.
The girls then ended their lives by hanging from the tree, he alleged.
DCP Ravindra Kumar said an FIR has been filed against the three accused and they are being interrogated.
The investigation into the alleged suicide and the rape of the two girls will be carried out further after the autopsy has been completed..
