Royal Challengers Bangalore i.e. RCB finally ended the long wait of 18 years and won the title of Indian Premier League 2025. In the thrilling final match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, RCB defeated Punjab Kings i.e. PBKS by 6 runs to win their first IPL trophy. This victory is not only historic for RCB but also an emotional moment for their millions of fans who had been waiting for this moment for years.

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, RCB scored 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Virat Kohli played a well-planned innings of 43 runs in 35 balls, but his innings was ended by Azmatullah Omarzai with a brilliant caught-and-bowled. Captain Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone also made important contributions. With their help, RCB was able to reach a strong score.

In response, Punjab Kings scored 184/7, but fell 6 runs short of the target. Shreyas Iyer played a brilliant innings of 87 runs in 41 balls. But RCB bowlers Romario Shepherd, Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood performed brilliantly in the last overs.

Mumbai Indians won the first title in their sixth season in 2013. RCB achieved this feat after 18 years, which is the first title after the longest wait in IPL history.

Punjab Kings, who reached the final for the first time since 2014, performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. This team, which made it to the final by defeating Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, created a new identity under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. Iyer said after the defeat, ‘We have learned a lot this season. Yes, we lost, but this defeat will make us stronger.’

This victory of RCB created a festive atmosphere in Bengaluru and their fans. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also supported RCB and said, ‘Our Bangalore boys won in Ahmedabad. This is a proud moment for the entire state.’ A fan wrote, ‘After 17 years, 6256 days, and countless dreams, RCB has finally done it!

This final was also special because it was the first time that the IPL got a new champion after 2016. Both RCB and PBKS have been a part of the tournament since 2008 but had never won the title. This victory not only made RCB a new champion but also proved that with perseverance and dedication no dream is impossible.

Romario Shepherd was named Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling and important wickets. RCB bowling coach Dinesh Karthik also called this victory incredible and said that it is the result of the hard work of the team and the faith of the fans.
