In a shocking incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was slapped by a man during a public hearing at her residence. Security personnel immediately detained the accused, who has since been arrested. Preliminary information indicates that the man hails from Gujarat.

This morning, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing held at her residence. The incident has triggered two contrasting statements from the BJP.

According to reports, a man around 40 years old entered the hearing as a complainant. Suddenly, he moved close to the Chief Minister and slapped her. Gupta’s security team immediately overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police. He is currently being interrogated, while the Chief Minister has been taken to the hospital.

Initial reports identify the attacker as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakariya, a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. His mother has clarified that Rajesh has no links with any political party. The intriguing story of Rajesh is unfolding further.

BJP’s Changing Stand: From Initial Remark to Later Clarification

To maintain direct contact with citizens, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta holds a weekly public hearing at her residence. Senior BJP leader Harish Khurana initially said, “During the meeting, a man attacked the Chief Minister. Doctors are currently treating her. We strongly condemn this attack and demand an investigation to determine whether there was any political motive behind it.” Early BJP statements largely echoed this version.

Official Statement: On Wednesday, however, the Delhi BJP issued an official clarification, calling the incident at CM Gupta’s Civil Lines residence an “accident.” Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, who later met Gupta, dismissed reports of a slap as “fabricated.” He said the man only tried to pull the CM’s hand, which led to some pushing and shoving, and in the process, “her head may have slightly touched the edge of the table.” He further added that doctors have examined her and confirmed her condition is stable.

Who is the Accused Rajesh?

The attacker has been identified as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakariya, a resident of Rajkot in Gujarat. Preliminary reports suggest he is around 40 years old and had entered the Delhi CM’s public hearing as a complainant before suddenly assaulting Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

His mother has clarified that Rajesh has no links with any political party. Police are currently interrogating him to uncover his background and motive. The unusual story of Rajesh is now under investigation, raising questions about whether the incident was a personal act or had deeper political undertones.

AAP Leader Atishi Condemns Attack on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

Former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) opposition leader Atishi strongly condemned the assault on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She said, “The attack on Delhi’s Chief Minister is extremely shameful. In a democracy, there is space for disagreement and opposition, but there is no place for violence. We hope Delhi Police will take the strictest possible action against the guilty. We also wish for the Chief Minister’s safety and well-being.

Congress Demands Strict Action Against Accused in Attack on Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

The Congress party has strongly condemned the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and demanded strict action against the accused. Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav called the incident extremely tragic, saying: “The attack on the Chief Minister is condemnable. It also highlights that women are not safe in Delhi. People come here seeking security, but the police must wake up and focus on women’s safety.”

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari also denounced the incident while targeting the BJP. Speaking to ANI, he said: “This is very unfortunate; there is no place for violence in politics… but BJP is the mother of violence, and people are angry with them. Whoever did this must be investigated. But let us not forget, when Arvind Kejriwal was attacked, BJP claimed he staged it himself. Now they must clarify whether this was an accident or a conspiracy. Still, I want to make it clear — if this was an attack, I condemn it and demand strict action against the culprits.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources confirmed that a probe has been ordered into this major security lapse. Delhi Police Commissioner S.B.K. Singh will personally oversee the investigation.
