Owaisi Slams Bhagwat Three Children Remark: ‘Why Burden Women?’

#News bureau August 30,2025

A fresh political row broke out after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat advised Indian families to have three children. He claimed that this number keeps the population both “sufficient and under control.”

But AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi fired back, saying the remark reflects the “classic doublespeak of the RSS.”

Bhagwat’s Comment Sparks National Debate

Speaking at an event, Bhagwat said, “We need to keep our numbers up. Three children per family is reasonable.” He argued that a stable population ensures demographic balance and secures India’s cultural identity.https://newshashtag.com/rss-chief-mohan-bhagwat-urges-parents-have-more-children/

His remark immediately drew attention, especially from opposition leaders and rights advocates.

Owaisi questioned the gendered implication. He said, “Why should women alone bear this burden? This is patriarchal thinking masked as cultural concern.”

Owaisi Accuses RSS of Hypocrisy

Owaisi didn’t hold back. He said the RSS often talks about women’s empowerment but makes statements that increase their responsibilities without consent.

He added, “They talk about women’s rights but want them to produce more children. This is RSS hypocrisy in plain sight.”

The AIMIM chief also pointed out that the idea ignores economic realities. He said rising costs, limited healthcare, and lack of support make large families unsustainable for most Indians.

Meanwhile, several civil society groups and social media users echoed Owaisi’s concerns. They emphasized that reproductive choices should remain personal, not political.

Cultural Debate or Population Panic?

This is not the first time Bhagwat has spoken about demography. His recent push for larger families comes at a time when India’s fertility rate is already below replacement level.

However, critics argue that this push could create communal tensions by fuelling fears around population imbalance.

As the political battle heats up, one question remains: who decides how many children a family should have
