Delhi Elections 2025: BJP brings last installment of freebies, big promises

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday released the final part of the BJP’s Sankalp Patra (manifesto) for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. It made several promises including ownership rights for residents of unauthorized colonies, 50,000 government jobs, and revival of the Yamuna river.
Amit Shah said on this occasion, “We consider elections as a means of public contact, where we connect with the people and understand their expectations. I want to tell other parties that for the BJP, the Sankalp Patra is a matter of trust, it is not just paper promises but a list of tasks to be fulfilled. Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has established the politics of governance. BJP worked towards fulfilling the promises of its manifesto, this is our track record
Last installment of BJP’s promise Amit Shah released the last installment of BJP’s promises on Saturday. It includes life insurance of Rs 10 lakh and 50,000 government jobs for gig workers. For gig workers, the manifesto proposed the creation of a Gig Workers Welfare Board. Life insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh for them, accident insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh and subsidized vehicle insurance are included. Textile workers and workers were also promised life insurance of Rs 10 lakh and accident insurance of Rs 5 lakh. The manifesto also outlines employment schemes, including filling 50,000 government posts in a transparent manner and creating 20 lakh self-employment opportunities. Apart from this, the BJP promised to convert 13,000 buses into electric vehicles.
The BJP has announced a fund dedicated to the Yamuna river. Through this, it expressed its commitment to revive the Yamuna river and promised to develop the Yamuna riverfront like the Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat. The party assured that the project will be completed within three years.
Some important promises of the last tranche
The BJP promised to give full ownership rights including the ability to buy, sell and construct property in 1,700 unauthorised colonies in Delhi. Additionally, it promised to reopen 13,000 sealed shops within six months and provide ownership rights on leased land in refugee colonies. “Ownership will be given to people in more than 1700 unauthorised colonies. Earlier they were not allowed to construct, buy or sell property but now all permissions will be given as per the bye-laws of the Housing Ministry,” Amit Shah said.

As soon as the election process started, Aam Aadmi Party made a series of promises. Prominent among them was the announcement of giving Rs 2100 to women. The result was that later BJP and Congress also copied it. However, Kejriwal’s own party announced allowance for women on the lines of Maharashtra and MP.

Congress did not jump into aggressive election campaign. But it was not behind in announcing promises. Congress also announced allowance for women on the lines of AAP and BJP. While the promise of gas cylinder for Rs 500 is of Congress only, which has been copied by other parties. Similarly, Congress’ announcement is important for the youth too.

Election campaigning is going on for 70 seats in Delhi. Voting will be held on February 5, the results of which will be declared on February 8. In the last election, AAP had won 62 seats and BJP had won eight seats.
