A shocking development has come to light in the Bengaluru stampede case. Now cricketer Virat Kohli seems to be trapped. A complaint has been filed against him at the Cubbon Park Police Station. There has been a demand to hold Kohli the main culprit of this accident. According to media reports, this complaint has been filed by local resident and social activist H. M. Venkatesh. No formal FIR has been filed against Kohli yet.

This complaint against Kohli has been filed regarding the stampede that took place outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore i.e. RCB’s IPL victory. 11 people died and more than 37 people were injured in this accident. A huge crowd of fans had gathered for this celebration. They were desperate to get a glimpse of their favorite players like Virat Kohli. The situation went out of control when the crowd started pushing and shoving at the gates of the stadium, resulting in a stampede.

According to India Today report, social activist H.M. Venkatesh in his complaint alleged that Virat Kohli played a central role in this and incited the public to gather in large numbers and this led to the accident. Venkatesh also claimed that Kohli’s departure to London immediately after the accident further strengthens the suspicion of his involvement.

According to the report, the police accepted the complaint and said that it will be considered under a previously registered case. However, according to police sources, no formal FIR has been filed against Kohli yet.

According to India Today report, social activist H.M. Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have expressed deep sorrow over this accident. Kohli wrote on Instagram, ‘I am completely devastated by this accident. It is very sad that such a moment of celebration turned into a tragedy.’ Anushka also shared her feelings and expressed condolences to the victim families. Both were seen serious and sad while returning to Mumbai after the accident.

Police action
After the stampede, the Karnataka government took immediate action and formed an inquiry commission, which will investigate the incident. Apart from this, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand and four other senior police officers have been suspended. The government has lodged an FIR against RCB franchise, KSCA and event management company DNA, blaming them for the accident.

Inadequate security arrangements and lack of crowd management are being blamed for the accident. A post made on RCB’s official X account on June 4 at 3:14 pm announced a ‘Vijay Parade’. This led to a huge crowd gathering. Many believe that this post attracted fans to the stadium, which worsened the situation.
