India won the Champions Trophy. It won a record third title by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final. This is India’s third win in the Champions Trophy. With this, the team again proved its supremacy in this tournament. Earlier, India won this title in 2002 (joint with Sri Lanka) and 2013. India has become the first team to win the Champions Trophy three times. It has surpassed two-time winner Australia. Rohit Sharma has also become the second Indian captain to win multiple ICC men’s white-ball titles after MS Dhoni.
In this exciting match played on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India achieved New Zealand’s target of 252 runs in 49 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings of 76 runs, while Shreyas Iyer contributed 48 runs. Earlier, the Indian spinners performed brilliantly and restricted New Zealand to 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and decided to bat first. His batsmen performed well in the beginning, but later the Indian bowlers took control of the game.
