Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is again in the headlines due to his controversial statement. He has created a controversy with his comment on RJD MLA in Bihar Assembly on Wednesday. Nitish Kumar, who came under the target of the opposition for demanding reservation in Bihar, lost his temper on RJD MLA Rekha Paswan. Nitish said, “Hey, you are a woman, you don’t know anything… sit down and listen.”

Amidst this comment of Nitish Kumar, there was an uproar in the Bihar Assembly. There was also an uproar due to the opposition members gathering in the well. They were demanding that the amended reservation laws of the state be included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, so that they can be saved from judicial review. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stood up to address the assembly in this matter. Tejashwi Yadav attacked Nitish Kumar for the comment he made.

While addressing the assembly, Nitish reminded the members of his role in starting the caste survey. He said that it was because of this survey that the quota for Scheduled Castes i.e. SC, Scheduled Tribes i.e. ST, Other Backward Classes i.e. OBC and Extremely Backward Classes was increased.
Nitish said, ‘The Patna High Court has struck down the reservation laws and we have approached the Supreme Court. A formal request has also been made to the Center to put these laws in the Ninth Schedule.’ Despite the clarification of the Chief Minister, the opposition members continued their protest by raising slogans. After this, Nitish Kumar lost his temper and vented his anger on an MLA. Attacking his former colleagues, Nitish Kumar said, “You are a woman, don’t you know anything? You are saying this, where do you get this from? Did these people ever promote women? You are saying this? Useless. That’s why I am saying, listen quietly. What happened? Won’t you listen? I will tell you, if you don’t listen then you people are wrong.” He further said that do you know that only after I came to power, women in Bihar started getting their rights?

RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar for ‘anti-women remarks’. He alleged that making cheap, unwanted, rude and low-level remarks on women has become a habit of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Tejashwi Yadav said, ‘This is a very serious and worrying issue for the state. A few days ago, the CM had made an indecent comment on the beauty of a BJP woman MLA from the tribal class. Today he commented on Rekha Paswan, a two-time MLA from the Scheduled Caste.’
