#News Bureau October27,2024

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed concern over the recent sharp decline in the Indian stock markets and said that the party should develop ways to protect the interests of the youth, salaried class and common people who invest their money. But in the video released by Rahul Gandhi on social media, he talks to Congress leader Pawan Khera. Pawan Khera talks about the whole corruption. However, many previous press conferences of Pawan Khera have been included in the video. Pawan Khera has made many allegations against SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch through documents. In a video of a phone conversation with Pawan Khera, head of the media and publicity department of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi described the stock market as a “place of risk” and urged party leaders to devise new ways to warn retail investors for their safety who invest their hard-earned money in the stock market.

Expressing his willingness to be part of a communication campaign to protect the interests of retail investors, Rahul Gandhi told Kheda, “If you want me to be involved, tell me how?”

In that video, Pawan Khera also expressed disappointment in his conversation with Rahul Gandhi that we are raising such a big issue but the media is not raising it properly. They do not include this issue in their debates. Rahul Gandhi replied that we have to raise the issues with complete transparency. We will keep raising questions. The public will decide for itself. Pawan Khera says at the end of the video that this is just the beginning. We will make more revelations.

SEBI Chairman Madhabi Puri Buch

Why is Madhabi Puri Buch running away
SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch did not attend the meeting called by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday, October 24. She did not attend citing ‘necessary reasons’. The PAC had called the meeting to review the functioning of the regulatory body. This is the second time the PAC has summoned her. The BJP was upset with the panel’s chairman KC Venugopal, accusing him of taking unilateral decisions and raising non-existent issues to defame the government.

SEBI’s functioning is to be reviewed, but along with this it was believed that he would also have to answer questions related to allegations of financial irregularities and conflict of interest. Earlier, Buch had sought exemption from appearing before the PAC, but this could not happen. BJP is protesting in this matter and a media report has quoted sources as saying that he has been acquitted of the charges in the government’s investigation.

Hindenburg Research’s fresh allegations have been rejected by SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch. Issuing a quick statement, Buch said that their investment in the fund, which Hindenburg claimed was linked to the alleged ‘Adani stock manipulation’, was made two years before Madhabi joined SEBI. Despite her clarification, she continued to be in controversies and the Congress has made several allegations one after the other.

According to a report by India Today, the government’s investigation into the allegations levelled against SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch has found nothing objectionable. The investigation exonerated Buch of the current charges and concluded that she will complete her term, which ends in February 2025.
