Trump: Harris is a radical leftist; Harris: Yes, I’m a capitalist!

Trump has heaped every possible low level allegation on Harris in the context of illegal immigrants from South American and Muslim countries. It is because of Harris that America is going through the worst phase in its history. It is surrounded from all sides. The tone of Trump’s allegations is exactly like the way Rahul Gandhi is surrounded in the context of terrorism, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kashmir. It is clear from Trump’s stormy press conference that he will continue to surround Harris with the narrative of immigrants because this issue is very sensitive for whites. Trump has also said that due to illegal immigrants, millions of jobs have been lost. Human trafficking is taking place. Sex slavery is being protected. ‘America is being destroyed. Kamala Harris is responsible for all this’, Trump says with a bang. Everyone knows that Trump speaks from the peak of his ego, and also answers journalists carelessly.

From this point of view, he is more clever and acrobatic than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi Ji has not been able to hold a single press conference in the last ten years, whereas Kamala Harris and Trump keep doing it. But, today Trump’s face looked sad. The glow on his face was missing. Whereas, Harris’s face is always smiling. Whether she is giving an interview or is surrounded by questions from the media, her laughter does not leave her. Trump definitely gets distracted by Harris’s free laughter. Perhaps that is why, he is trying to distance Harris’s growing size from the issues of radical leftists and migrants. It is also no less interesting to know that this week, Indian-origin Vice President Kamala Harris had said at an economic forum,

“I am a capitalist. I am with honest private sector capitalists. I am practical. America’s economy should be equal for everyone, not for a few people. The lower and middle class are the backbone of the nation’s economic policy. There are small businessmen, how can their interests be ignored?”

On the other hand, Donald Trump wants that the tax on corporates should be reduced from 21 percent to 15 percent. It seems that Trump wants to implement ‘radical economic nationalism’, while Harris is a supporter of ‘liberal economic nationalism’. Listening to Kamala Harris’s economic policies reminded me of the much discussed book ‘Saving the Capitalism from Capitalists’ by former Governor of Reserve Bank of India Raghuram Rajan, which clearly discusses the theory of maintaining the capitalist system. On the contrary, Trump does not seem to be convinced of economic morality. Perhaps that is why he is hell-bent on destroying Harris.

As the voting day in America, November 5, is getting closer, the level of language in the speeches of Republican candidate Donald Trump is falling day by day. He is using absurd names for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. His style of speech in various election rallies reminds us of the speeches of some top ruling leaders of India. Now Trump loses his temper so much that instead of taking the name of his opponent, he throws the word ‘woman’, and always calls Kamala as Kamala. Of course, he gets applause.

He has also started addressing Kamala Harris as ‘Tax Queen’. His argument is that this woman will rain taxes on Americans. The surprising thing is that to portray Kamala Harris’s image as an ‘enemy’ in the eyes of the voters, Trump even declares her a hidden ‘communist, Marxist, socialist’. He does not stop here, he goes further and claims that if Kamala Harris becomes the President, she will revive the ‘Soviet Union’ in America. Then America will be nowhere. On September 26, while addressing the media in his Trump Tower in New York, Trump called Harris a ‘radical leftist’. He even called her ‘Border Czar’.

In a way, through these speeches, Trump is trying his best to revive the McCarthyism of the 50s against Harris. The biggest reason for this is that Harris’ popularity is increasing. She has started making inroads into those areas which were considered Trump’s impregnable strongholds. Voters are also getting ready to vote. This preparation includes making the minors as well as the adult voters familiar with the voting process and election issues. Parents are seen taking the initiative for this.

Against this background, when I look at the voters of my country and their consciousness, I feel disappointed. Now see, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kept on chanting ‘one nation – one election’. What is the real intention behind this chant, only he knows. But, only one indication arises with intensity from his nature and governance style and that is ‘unanimous’ rule over India by misuse of democratic institutions. They probably intend to implement America’s system of governance, the ‘Presidential System’, in India. How correct this will be is a matter of national debate. The debate is also going on.

It will also be interesting to know that even a common voter thinks a thousand times before changing his side. In India, MPs, MLAs, councillors etc. change sides very frequently. As a result, state governments keep forming and falling. Despite becoming Aayaram-Gayaram-Palturam, the elected representatives roam around with great pride and also keep giving speeches on morality in the House. But, the scene here is completely different. Talking to some voters, it was found that the common voter cannot change his party easily. He is almost ostracized in his area of contact. If a person or group wants to change his party, then he has to announce his decision well before the voting. He has to face sharp questions and answers from the people. The person concerned has to make solid preparations at his ideological level. For the past few days, many senior and ordinary members of the Republican Party are leaving their old party because of Trump. They have also announced it. There are many who are neutral. They are unable to decide whom to choose between Harris and Trump. In short, public life practices the kind of politeness required by liberal capitalist democracy. This is what I see
