Three people died and 34 were injured when 14 coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Gonda in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, two seriously injured passengers have been referred to Lucknow. Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the local administration to provide all possible help to the affected passengers. He asked the officials to ensure that the injured get proper medical care.

Eyewitnesses said, after the accident the track was uprooted for about 500 meters. Electric lines were also damaged. The primary reason for the accident is said to be the settling of the track due to waterlogging on both sides of the track due to rain. However, some media groups have quoted the train driver as saying that he had heard a bang before the accident. However, this has not been confirmed by Railways. UP DGP also said that there was no blast.

the speed was 100 km/h After the engine of the 24-coach train, six AC coaches were fitted, out of which two coaches derailed and overturned. After this, four other AC coaches also overturned. According to departmental sources, the speed of the train at the time of the accident was more than 100 km per hour.

Passengers informed that some people were trapped in it. On this the NDRF team searched the bogies. The bogies were examined till late evening, but the administration did not confirm whether anyone was trapped. In the accident, about 200 meters of Gonda-Gorakhpur railway line has also been uprooted, while electronic wires have also been broken. Along with taking the injured to the hospital, the passengers were sent to Mankapur railway station. From where they can get a train for their onward journey. 11 trains were diverted due to the accident.1

Two trains canceled after the accident, route of 16 changed

After the accident of express train (15904) going from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh, two passenger trains were canceled by the Railway Department. Apart from this, routes of 16 trains have been diverted. The diverted trains are being run via Ayodhya-Mankapur. Due to this, passengers had to face a lot of problems at Gonda railway station. Hundreds of devotees were deprived of visiting Mata Vaishno Devi. There was a crowd of passengers waiting to cancel their tickets at the ticket office.
