The Karnataka government, which is facing severe criticism for its negligence in the Bengaluru stampede case, has taken a big decision. Know what message Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave by taking action regarding administrative lapse.
The Karnataka government has taken major action in the case of Bengaluru stampede. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced the suspension of several senior police officers, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand, with immediate effect. Along with this, a high-level commission has been formed to investigate the incident.
There was a stampede in Bengaluru during the celebration of RCB’s first IPL trophy win. 11 people lost their lives in this accident and at least 37 people were injured. Major negligence came to light in this case. Amidst sharp criticism, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, ‘The Police Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station, Station House Master, Station House Officer, ACP, Central Division DCP, Cricket Stadium In-charge, Additional Commissioner of Police and Commissioner of Police have been suspended with immediate effect.’
Addressing a press conference after holding a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Siddaramaiah said his government has handed over the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and plans to appoint a commission to probe the tragedy. The commission will submit its report in 30 days.
Siddaramaiah said, “We are planning to appoint a single member commission under the able guidance of retired High Court judge John Michael D’Cunha. We have decided to arrest the representatives of the organisations involved in this due to negligence in the cabinet.”
‘Action will also be taken against RCB’
Siddaramaiah said action has been taken against the police officials and now the next step will be against RCB. He directed the Karnataka DGP and IGP to immediately arrest the RCB representative, DNA event managers and members of the state cricket association KSCA in the wake of the tragedy. The cricket organisation had apparently ignored the police’s advice, which asked for a few more days to prepare for the felicitation ceremony.
RCB had posted about the felicitation ceremony on June 4 on X. The post said that a ‘victory parade’ would start from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Stadium from 5 pm, followed by a felicitation ceremony inside the stadium.
RCB’s post also included a link for free passes, announced limited entry and requested fans to follow police guidelines.
Siddaramaiah further said that the state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will take over the investigation of the accident. He said, ‘It was an unprecedented incident in which 11 people lost their lives and 37 were injured. All the injured are being given free treatment.’

Why did China help Pakistan?
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra wrote on Twitter, ‘The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, in a hurry to get photo-ops, forced RCB to organize celebrations within 12 hours of winning the final. The result was 11 people died and more than 50 people were injured. Just as earlier Allu Arjun was arrested by blaming him for the stampede, will Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar be arrested today?’
Siddaramaiah said that the government will not do any kind of politics in this matter and is fully standing with the victims.
