Wayanad MP and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, who came under fire from BJP leaders after she arrived at Parliament on Monday with a bag that said ‘Palestine’, arrived at Parliament on Tuesday with a different bag. This time, the bag highlighted the plight of Hindus and Christians in Bangladesh. Minority communities in the neighbouring country have been victims of hate attacks since the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government.

A photo of Priyanka Gandhi surfaced on social media on Tuesday. In the photo, Priyanka can be seen carrying two handbags, one of which reads “Bangladesh… I stand with Hindus and Christians.” On Monday, Priyanka Gandhi faced criticism from BJP leaders when she was seen carrying a bag with the word ‘Palestine’ on it. But the BJP has maintained silence on the Bangladesh bag till the time of writing this report.

Who will decide what I should wear: Priyanka
On being questioned on Palestine bag, Priyanka said- “Who will decide what clothes I will wear? It is this special patriarchy that decides what a woman should wear. Journalists had asked about BJP leaders questioning the appropriateness of her dress, to which this was her answer.

BJP leader Amit Malviya criticised Priyanka, saying, “At the end of this Parliament session, let’s observe a two-minute silence for all those in Congress who believed Priyanka Vadra was the solution for the party, who should have embraced her earlier. But she is a bigger disaster than Rahul Gandhi, who thinks carrying a bag in support of Palestine in Parliament is like fighting patriarchy.” Amit Malviya further wrote, “Make no mistake, Congress is the new Muslim League.”

“Something should be done about the atrocities being committed against minorities and Hindus in Bangladesh… something should be done about it. The Bangladesh government should be talked to in this regard… and they should not say such nonsense,” Vadra told reporters in the Parliament complex.
