Trump: U.S. Strike on Drug Submarine Saved 25,000 American Lives
Trump Says Military Destroyed Vessel Carrying Fentanyl Towards U.S.
Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that the U.S. military destroyed a drug-loaded submarine in the Caribbean Sea. He said the strike prevented at least 25,000 American deaths.
The former president described the submarine as “very large” and filled with fentanyl and other narcotics. He said it was traveling along a known smuggling route toward the U.S.
“It was my great honor to destroy a drug-carrying submarine that was heading toward the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“U.S. intelligence confirmed the vessel was loaded with mostly fentanyl and other illegal narcotics.”
Two Killed, Two Captured in Submarine Operation
According to Trump, there were four narcoterrorists on board. Two died in the strike. The other two survived and are now being sent back to their home countries—Ecuador and Colombia—for detention and prosecution.
“At least 25,000 Americans would have died if I allowed this submarine to reach our shores,” Trump added.
“Under my watch, the United States will not tolerate drug trafficking—by land or by sea.”
The White House shared video footage of the strike on X (formerly Twitter). The clip shows the submarine being hit, but no further details were included.
Officials said the operation happened in international waters, and no U.S. personnel were injured.
Strike Part of Wider Anti-Drug Campaign
The U.S. has reportedly struck six vessels in the Caribbean since September, most of them speedboats. Several are believed to have come from Venezuela, according to sources cited by AFP.
Trump linked this strike to his broader campaign against narcoterrorism. He said the U.S. must remain alert and aggressive to protect its citizens from deadly drugs like fentanyl.
Although some critics questioned his claim that 25,000 lives were saved, supporters praised the action as decisive and necessary. National security analysts said the strike highlights the growing role of maritime drug routes in global trafficking networks.
Trump Doubles Down on Drug War Message
This operation reinforces Trump’s hardline message on border security and drug enforcement—themes central to his 2024 campaign. While political debate continues, the event draws attention to a persistent threat at sea.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump concluded in his post.
“The United States of America will not allow this poison to reach our people.”
