57.38% voting took place in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections

About 57.38 percent voting was recorded under phase 5 of the Lok Sabha elections. In this, the highest voting percentage was recorded in West Bengal at 73% and the lowest was recorded in Maharashtra at 48.88%. Voting took place on Monday for 49 Lok Sabha seats in six states and two union territories, including Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting was also held for five Lok Sabha seats in Odisha as well as the second phase of the state assembly. Voting was also held simultaneously for 35 assembly constituencies of Odisha Assembly on Monday.
The Election Commission received around 1036 complaints from various political parties in West Bengal related to EVM malfunction, agents being prevented from entering polling stations and voters being prevented or intimidated from casting their votes in various constituencies.
Voting for the fifth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections commenced at 7 am on Monday. Elections were conducted in Jharkhand (3 seats), Odisha (5 seats), Uttar Pradesh (14 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Maharashtra (13 seats), West Bengal (7 seats), Ladakh (1 seat), and Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat). This phase completed voting for 428 out of the 543 total seats. Only two phases of voting remain.
Several prominent candidates are in the fray in the fifth phase, including Union Minister Smriti Irani from Amethi. Apart from these, Union Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Piyush Goyal from Mumbai North, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli, LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan from Hajipur, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant Shinde from Kalyan.
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah from Baramulla and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya from Saran are also prominent candidates.
BJP has been accused of rigging in Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency. Journalist Sachin Gupta has shared a video in which some people are saying that 10-12 people from BJP came and took away the entire bag of Congress. This incident happened at number 312.
