An incident of brutality like Bengal and Bihar has also happened in Uttarakhand. The body of a nurse working in a hospital in Uttarakhand has been found in Rampur, UP. It is alleged that the nurse was sexually assaulted and killed while going home from the hospital. One accused has been arrested in this case.
The incident happened with a nurse working in a private hospital in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. She left the hospital on July 30, but did not reach home. On August 8, her body was recovered from her village in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. A week later, a daily wage laborer was arrested on Wednesday. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar of Bareilly
The accused allegedly stopped a female nurse who was going home alone after duty, sexually assaulted her and killed her. He also looted her belongings. When the nurse did not reach home, the next day on July 31, the nurse’s sister filed a missing person report.
A week later, on August 8, her body was found on an empty plot. According to Aaj Tak’s report, the post-mortem report revealed that the woman was raped and then strangulated to death. The police started scanning the CCTV cameras installed nearby. Also, the EMI number of the woman’s phone was put on surveillance. While scanning the CCTV footage, the police saw a suspicious young man who was seen following her.
According to the report, the name of the EMI number was found in Bareilly, UP. It was found that Dharmendra and his wife were using the phone. But both were absconding. Later, Dharmendra’s location was found in Rajasthan and he was arrested.
According to The Indian Express report, Udham Singh Nagar Senior Superintendent of Police Manjunath T.C. He said, ‘On July 30, we received a missing person report… When we searched for her, we found that she had reached her village in Uttar Pradesh. On August 8, we received information about a woman’s body being found in the bushes in that area. It was soon confirmed that it was the body of the missing woman.’
The SSP said, ‘The accused is a (drug) addict and does not know the woman. On the day of the incident, he saw the woman going alone. According to our information, he stopped the woman, who fought him off. However, he was overpowered and… strangled to death. He also sexually assaulted her. After the murder, he took the woman’s belongings and fled.’
Officials said the accused has confessed to his crime. Police have also recovered the clothes, mobile phone and SIM card worn at the time of the incident.
Similar reports have come from Bihar as well. The accused kidnapped a minor girl in front of her mother, father and brother. Several people raped her. She was stabbed to death and then the body was thrown on the banks of a pond.
The incident took place in a village in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. Six people have been charged with gang rape and murder after the body of the Dalit teenager was found. In her complaint to the police, the girl’s mother has accused a man named Sanjay Rai and some of his associates of forcibly entering her house on August 11 and kidnapping, raping and killing her daughter.
