‘Poison’ in Yamuna: When asked for more proof, Kejriwal said- Rajiv Kumar should contest the election

The controversy over mixing ‘poison’ in Yamuna water for Delhi elections has now escalated further. Despite responding to the notice, when the Election Commission asked for more evidence, Kejriwal said that if Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar wants to do politics, he should contest elections from any assembly seat in Delhi. Kejriwal said that he will send three bottles of Yamuna water to Rajiv Kumar and his election commissioners and challenged them to drink water.

Attacking Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal said in a press conference on Thursday, ‘I want to respectfully tell the Election Commission that they cannot see money being distributed openly in Delhi. They cannot see blankets being distributed in the city… The Election Commission is doing politics because Rajiv Kumar wants a job after retirement. I want to tell Rajiv Kumar that history will not forgive you. Rajiv Kumar has ruined the Election Commission.’

Kejriwal accused Election Commission chief Rajiv Kumar of playing politics. He said that Haryana has mixed poison in the Yamuna water to disrupt Delhi’s water supply. Along with this, Kejriwal challenged the BJP and Congress leaders to drink the water if it is not poisoned.

Kejriwal’s comment came hours after the Election Commission sent another letter to the AAP chief. In this letter, he said that his comment was made in public interest. The Election Commission has asked Kejriwal to present factual evidence and answer five questions by 11 am on Friday. If this is not done, action will be taken against him.

The Election Commission asked Kejriwal to present factual evidence with clear answers about the type, quantity, nature and method of poison in Yamuna.

In the press conference, Kejriwal criticised the Election Commission for issuing him a notice over his allegation of poisoning the Yamuna.

He said, “I want to tell the Election Commission with all due respect. They are not seeing money and blankets being distributed openly in Delhi. They are playing politics. Why? Because Rajiv Kumar wants a job after retirement. If Rajiv Kumar wants, he can contest elections from any seat in Delhi.” He alleged, “I want to tell them that history will never forgive them. I don’t think the Election Commission has ever made such a big mistake. I know they will put me in jail within two days. Let them do it. I am not afraid. The country has never seen such elections before.”

Kejriwal said, ‘For the last several days, water with dangerous levels of ammonia was coming into Yamuna from Haryana. CM Atishi ji called Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini ji and asked him not to send this poisonous water but he did nothing.’

He said, ‘As long as I am alive, I will not let the people of Delhi drink poisonous water. They want to play with the lives of the people of Delhi by sending water with high ammonia and are threatening me that they will send me to jail. Let them do whatever they want, as long as I am alive, I will not let the people of Delhi drink poisonous water. I am not going to be afraid of them.’

In a press conference on Thursday, Kejriwal showed four water bottles containing 7 ppm ammonia water with chlorine. The names of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini were written on the water bottles. Kejriwal challenged the four leaders to drink water from these bottles.

He said, ‘This is 7 ppm ammonia water, mixed with chlorine. BJP and Congress have joined hands, due to which the health of Delhiites is in danger. Sanjay Singh will also deliver these bottles to Amit Shah, Virendra Sachdeva, Nayab Singh Saini and Rahul Gandhi at the BJP headquarters. If they have the courage, they should drink this water in a press conference.’
