A day after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and fled the country, Bangladesh on Tuesday made a major reshuffle in top posts in the army. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Parliament has been dissolved on Tuesday. The protesters had warned of dissolving it by noon on Tuesday itself. Now preparations are underway to form a new interim government. Meanwhile, former Bangladesh IT Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak has been detained. According to media reports, Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin met the key coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement at Bangabhaban on Tuesday and discussed the current situation and the form of the interim government.
The Parliament office has said that the Bangladesh Parliament has been dissolved on Tuesday. The protesting student coordinators had demanded the dissolution of Parliament by 3 pm on Tuesday, so that a new interim government could be formed as soon as possible. The protesting student coordinators have warned and asked the ‘revolutionary students to be ready.

Meanwhile, former State Minister for Telecommunications and ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak was detained by airport officials. The former minister arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 3:00 pm on Wednesday along with two of his aides, Prothom Alo reported. He was prevented from boarding the plane and taken into custody by immigration officials.

Meanwhile, the British government has demanded a UN-led investigation into the violent incidents of the last few weeks in Bangladesh. Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fled to India for the time being before reportedly seeking asylum in the UK.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar briefed Prime Minister Modi about the situation in Bangladesh.
