US Elections 2024 Live: Trump, Harris go on a vigorous campaign in swing states
#News Bureau November 2,2024
Democratic and Republican contenders Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are touring swing states in the final week of campaigning for the November 5 US presidential election. Trump and Harris held rallies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city, on Friday. Wisconsin is one of the seven swing states whose 10 electoral college votes can turn the final result in favor of the Democrats or the Republicans. The results here were decided by less than one percentage point in 2016 and 2020.
According to pre-election surveys, the two contenders are neck-to-neck; most have put Harris slightly ahead of Trump. Kamala Harris was brought in as the Democratic candidate after Biden decided not to contest re-election. Trump had to face a lot of infamy in the last election of 2020. When his supporters resorted to violence in Capitol Hill and entered the President’s House.
At a Milwaukee rally in swing state Wisconsin on Friday, Trump used his speech to fuel fears of voter fraud. “We don’t care when you vote. Just make sure you vote. And if you see somebody cheating, you know what to do. Report it immediately,” he said. Trump’s false claims about voter fraud in swing state Pennsylvania have also raised concerns that he may again try to overturn the election results if he loses.
National Guard deployed
The governor of Washington state said on Friday that he is activating some members of the National Guard to be prepared for potential violence related to the 2024 election. This is the state, where according to surveys, Democrat Kamala Harris is expected to easily defeat Republican Donald Trump. Ballot boxes were set on fire here earlier this week. Governor Jay Inslee wrote in a letter published on his website, “Based on general and specific information and concerns regarding the possibility of violence or other unlawful activity related to the 2024 general election, I want to ensure that we are fully prepared to respond.” According to Inslee, hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed by the use of an incendiary device in a drop box in the city of Vancouver. Renowned historian and election forecaster Allan Lichtman stands by his earlier prediction that despite a tight presidential contest, Kamala Harris will win the November 5 presidential election against Donald Trump.

This comment could cost Trump dearly
Arizona’s chief prosecutor said his office is investigating whether Donald Trump violated state law by suggesting a prominent critic should face gunfire. Trump made vulgar comments about Liz Cheney at an event in Arizona on Thursday, sparking outrage. His campaign said the former president was criticizing the former Republican lawmaker as a war supporter. But critics condemned the comment as evidence that he would target his enemies if he won. Trump said about Cheney, “She’s a radical war supporter. Let’s put her up there with a rifle with nine barrels shooting at her, okay? Let’s see how she feels about it, you know.” Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, Arizona Attorney General Chris Mayes said Trump violated state laws. Because making death threats here is a legal violation.
Mayes said, “I have already asked the head of our criminal department to begin looking into that statement by Trump and analyzing whether it qualifies as a death threat under Arizona laws.” “The question is whether it crossed the line. It’s extremely disturbing. It’s something that offends people,” Mayes said. However, the Trump campaign said the former president’s comments were misinterpreted. Spokesperson Caroline Levitt said in a statement, “President Trump is 100% correct that people like Liz Cheney start wars and are much quicker to send other Americans to fight than go to war themselves.” Republican candidate Kamala Harris has also condemned Trump’s remarks.
