BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s statement on reviving the three agricultural laws has gained momentum. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha has now directly demanded a clarification from PM Modi. He has said that one of PM Modi’s MPs has talked about bringing back the three black agricultural laws. Rahul said, ‘Prime Minister, please clarify whether you are against it or will you misbehave again?’

Rahul Gandhi has released a video statement on Kangana Ranaut’s statement and said, ‘These BJP people keep testing ideas. They tell someone to put this idea in public and then see the reaction. This is what has happened…’ He said, ‘India will not let any conspiracy of BJP against our food providers succeed – if any step is taken to harm the farmers, Modi ji will have to apologize again.’

Rahul’s statement comes after BJP MP Kangana Ranaut urged the central government a few days ago to re-implement the three agricultural laws that were repealed in 2021. Ahead of the assembly elections in Haryana, Kangana Ranaut’s statement has caused a lot of controversy and the BJP seems to be on the backfoot. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should clarify whether his government is against the law or not.

In a video message, Rahul questioned the Prime Minister and the central government’s stand on the repealed agricultural laws, and also wanted to know whether it would be revived. He said, ‘Even after the martyrdom of more than 700 farmers, especially farmers from Haryana and Punjab, the people of BJP are not satisfied.’

Kangana Ranaut had stirred up another controversy with her remarks urging farmers to ask the Prime Minister to re-implement the three repealed farm laws of 2020. On Monday, Kangana had said that these laws were made for the welfare of farmers. She said, ‘I believe that the repealed farm laws should be brought back. I understand that it can be controversial, but I think these farmer-welfare committed laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand these laws. Just as farmers in other sectors are benefiting, there should be no hindrance in their development.’ Kangana also compared the three farm laws to the proposed ‘One Country One Election’. She said, “Farmers are an important pillar of our country. Just like the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative will benefit bureaucrats and government employees who often have to go on election duty, farmers should also demand the withdrawal of the three farm laws, which were opposed by only a few states. I request them with folded hands to re-implement these laws.”
