Kejriwal vs Modi’s guarantee: After making big promises, what are they distributing now?

Aam Aadmi Party supremo and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday 27 January admitted that his government failed to fulfill three promises due to politics and urged Delhi voters to complete the unfinished work for a third term. Kejriwal has released the party’s manifesto as Kejriwal Guarantee.
However, AAP has announced an average of one election promise every day in the last one month during the election. This includes giving Rs 2100 to women and Rs 18000 allowance to granthis of gurudwaras and temple priests. But Kejriwal on Monday presented a cocktail of his promises in the form of Kejriwal Guarantee.
Kejriwal said- “In 2020, I had said that every household will get free drinking water. I had also said that we will clean the Yamuna and build Delhi’s roads according to European standards. I had given these three guarantees in 2020 but I am admitting today that we could not do it. We formed the government in February 2020 and Corona spread in March 2020. It lasted for 2.5 years and then the BJP sent our leaders to jail in fake cases. Jain, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh had to go to jail. Now in the next five years, we will fulfill these three promises.”
Kejriwal announced 15 election promises including several populist schemes in the AAP manifesto. He said, “Today, we are announcing 15 ‘Kejriwal Ki Guarantee’ which will be fulfilled in the next 5 years. The first guarantee is of employment. Second guarantee – Mahila Samman Yojana of Rs 2100 per month to every woman. Third – treatment under Sanjeevani Yojana. Under the fourth guarantee, we will ensure correct water consumption bills, old water bills will be waived after coming to power.”
He further said that in the next five years, the AAP government will clean the Yamuna river, provide 24-hour water supply to homes and make Delhi roads of European standard. The sixth guarantee is the introduction of Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme to cover the cost of education, travel and accommodation of Dalit students wishing to study in any international university. Seventh guarantee – free bus travel and 50% discount in Delhi Metro for school/college students in Delhi… We will give Samman Rashi of Rs 18,000 per month to temple and gurudwara priests. But all these guarantees have already been distributed by Kejriwal in the form of promises.

As soon as Kejriwal’s guarantee was issued, BJP also released a poster of Modi’s guarantee on social media on Monday. Also, continuing its Sheesh Mahal attack, it released a new three-minute video on Monday. Let us tell you that when Kejriwal was the CM of Delhi, the Chief Minister’s residence was decorated. BJP says that it is a scam in itself. It also released a video of it calling it Sheesh Mahal. AAP also attacked Modi and released a video of Rajmahal. In which it is alleged that crores of rupees of taxpayers have been wasted on Modi’s luxurious life.

Kejriwal, however, vacated the bungalow in October 2023. It has since become the centre of controversy due to allegations of expensive fittings and luxurious items. The BJP has prominently publicised the “Sheesh Mahal” allegation in its election campaign. Earlier, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva had alleged that valuables, including a “golden commode”, were missing after Kejriwal moved out of the bungalow.
